JSC Mobile Emitter MK I / EMH Mk M
« on: June 12, 2013, 12:10:03 AM »
The Jones Self-Contained Mobile Holo-Emitter is a piece of 24th century technology reverse engineered to remotely power and enable a single holographic instance away from in-garrisoned holoemitters. Constructed of durasteel, the emitter is a fifteen centimeter diameter sphere covered with maneuvering thrusters, holographic emitters, and sensors.

Origin
After studying the 29th century mobile emitter brought back from the Delta Quadrant by USS Voyager, then Lieutenant Lucas Jones determined he would be able to design and build a functional, practical equivalent using 24th century technology. His main purpose was to use the device as a platform for the Emergency Medical Hologram Mark M he began developing while in the Academy. Starting in 2378, Lucas was able to complete the first emitter in December of 2380, just before his "death". It was not discovered until nineteen days later when his new, and newly "widowed" wife opened her Christmas present.

Design
The onboard computer housed inside a mobile emitter can house one complete holographic program with numerous skills. The mobile emitter is a wholly self-contained holographic projector, generating the photons and force fields necessary to allow a hologram to physically interact with its environment. The remote uses a small repulsor-lift generator which can achieve a top speed of twenty-five kilometers per hour. Eight maneuvering thrusters make the remote (and therefore the hologram) extremely nimble. when active the emitter takes a position analogous to the "heart" of the humanoid represented by the holographic program. this completely conceals the emitter from view
Compatibility

The Jones designed emitter is eminently compatible with all 24th century Federation technology, stored holographic programs (active and inactive) can be transferred to and from the emitter with ease, as simply as a voice command.

Known Units
There were at one time two functioning units in existence. The original one was aboard the U.S.S. Lexington. This emitter was destroyed along with that vessel. The second and newer version aboard is currently aboard the U.S.S. Archangel. It currently holds to only copy of the EMH MK M program.

EMH Mk M Program
"What in the sam hill do you want?" - EMH Mk M upon activation

The Emergency Medical Holographic program Mark M (EMH Mk M) is a sophisticated hologram developed by then Starfleet Cadet Lucas Jones and housed in a mobile emitter of his design aboard the Federation starship Archangel. It was designed to provide short-term advanced assistance during emergencies in sickbay to the extent of literally replacing a starship's medical officer. There have been two versions of the program, the formal names of both of the are EMH Program MK-1 Diagnostic and Surgical Subroutine McCoy-381 Alpha and EMH Program MK-1 Diagnostic and Surgical Subroutine McCoy-381 Bravo. the Alpha program was housed in the original Mobile Emitter designed by Jones, and was lost along with the Lexington. the Bravo program currently serves aboard the Archangel.

The EMH Mk M is programmed with over 5 million possible treatments from the collective information of 2000 medical references and the experience of 47 individual medical officers. The Mk M is also supplemented with contingency programs and adaptive programs to learn while serving as a supplement of a normal medical staff in cases of emergency. It (via the mobile emitter) contains 50 million gigaquads of computer memory, which is "considerably more than most highly developed humanoid brains.

The program is designed upon the likeness and personality of Dr Leonard McCoy of Starfleet Fame. The personality matrix has been loaded with every thing Dr McCoy ever wrote, including his personal logs.
