Within an unnamed city is a market. Much like the great bazaars of old, you can find most of whatever you wish here. The market is patrolled by the caste of guardsmen. This means that you had best act in a civil manner in the markets, or you will risk being punished, free and slave alike. This is a market in a city. Women will dress and act according to their stations. Veils are not a necessity, but modest dress is expected from those who wish to remain free from captivity. (This includes avatars. You get one warning. Should you ignore it, it's your ass) Those that act in a violent manner towards free will find themselves caged awaiting a fine. Those free women who act in a manner not befitting their status as free, whether it be in dress or actions, will be caged upon payment of a fine to be paid by their nearest male kin. If said fine is not paid, said free woman may become property of the market, and will be subject to branding.

The Sardar Fairs are held at the foot of the Sardar Mountains four times per year. It is expected that every Gorean make the pilgrimmage to the Sardar for a fair at least once in their lifetime. ( Much like Islam and the Hajj) When the fair is "open" it is a complete safe zone, for the free. Slaves are still that- slaves. Slaves are outside the law. During the safe zone dates, however, it will be a NO KILL ZONE. If there is a squabble, it will be taken to a designated impartial magistrate. If a free woman breaks the general laws of Gor, she will also be brought before a magistrate. Understand that the magistrate can impose a sentence ranging from a fine to be determined by the magistrate to collaring, or even impaling outside the fair's boundaries. Remember, while we are here to be Gorean, Goreans had laws and structures in their societies. This said- veils are not a requirement for free women. Culturally acceptable clothing for free women is acceptable in the fair. If you do not know what is acceptable- Here is a list of the things that are not acceptable:

Leathers (Gorean women as a whole did not wear pants)
Short skirts (Slaves wear short skirts)
Panther Clothing (Panthers would be collared immediately within the confines of the fair as they are outlaw women and considered an anathema to Gorean society)

The carrying of weapons will be allowed within the Fair boundaries. It is understood though, that if you choose to wield a weapon against another free, then the blue flame of death WILL come and strike you dead. And if you choose to do so, this is what will happen. While officially the Fairs are a time of revelry and celebration of being alive on Gor, they serve other functions. Treaties are made there. The Caste of Initiates exchange ideas and news there. The Caste of Merchants formalize trade practices there. The Fairs are more than just a quarterly party. They are an integral part of Gorean life.

The Fair is only officially "open" on the following dates:

The Fair of En'Kara - March 21-30
The Fair of En'Var - June 19-28
The Fair of Se'Kara - September 22-October 1
The Fair of Se'Var - December 21-30

The Fair Grounds are only safe during the Fairs. Any other time, the grounds are essentially wild land, and fall under no law.

Welcome to the Arena of Blades. Throngs of spectators roar at the sight of the slaves below fighting. Laughing as they die under the spear, under the fang of the larl. Watch as they show their approval as criminals are impaled upon the stake. This is the arena.

In an unnamed city you will find this place. Rank with the stench of the blood of fighting slaves, it is a wondrous sight, much like that of ancient Rome. Slaves come here to fight. Criminals come here to die. During the Games, men of low caste come to fight, either alone, or in troops for glory and profit.

"The games in the Stadium of Blades finished their season at the end of Se'Kara, a month following the season of races. I attended the games only once, and found that I did not much care for them. To the credit of the men of Ar I point out that the races were more closely followed. I do not choose to describe the nature of the games, except in certain general detail. There seems to me little of beauty in them and much of blood. Matches are arranged between single armed fighters, or teams of such. Generally Warriors do not participate in these matches, but men of low caste, slaves, condemned criminals and such. Some of them, however, are quite skillful with the weapons of their choice, surely the equal of many Warriors. The crowd is fond of seeing various types of weapons used against others, and styles of fighting. Buckler and short sword are perhaps most popular, but there are few weapons on Gor which are not seen over a period of three or four days of the games. Another popular set of weapons, as in the ancient ludi of Rome is net and trident. Usually those most skilled with this set of weapons are from the shore and islands of distant, gleaming Thassa, the sea, where they doubtless originally developed among fishermen. Sometimes men fight locked in iron hoods, unable to see their opponents. Sometimes men wrestle to the death or use the spiked gauntlets. Sometimes slave girls are forced to fight slave girls, perhaps with steel claws fastened on their fingers, or several girls, variously armed, will be forced to fight a single man, or a small number of men. Surviving girls, of course, become the property of those whom they have fought; men who lose are, of course, slain. Beasts are also popular in the Stadium of Blades, and fights between various animals, half starved and goaded into fury by hot irons and whips, are common; sometimes the beasts fight beasts of the same species, and other times not; sometimes the beasts fight men, variously armed, or armed slave girls; sometimes, for the sport of the crowd, slaves or criminals are fed to the beasts. The training of slaves and criminals for these fights, and the acquisition and training of the beasts is a large business in Ar, there being training schools for men, and compounds where the beasts, captured on expeditions to various parts of Gor and shipped to Ar, may be kept and taught to kill under the unnatural conditions of the stadium spectacle. Upon occasion, and it had happened early in Se'Kara this year, the arena is flooded and a sea fight is staged, the waters for the occasion being filled with a variety of unpleasant sea life, water tharlarion, Vosk turtles, and the nine gilled Gorean shark, the latter brought in tanks on river barges up the Vosk, to be then transported in tanks on wagons across the margin of desolation to Ar for the event."

- Combat in The Arena is not limited to one system. should the parties involved not come to an agreement, an RPO staff member will set the terms. if this still is not agreeable, you have the option of retracting your RP from the room and going elsewhere. you only have this option once a scene ( the time you enter the room till the time you leave)

- If you are a spectator, you are not a participant.

- The arena is within an unknown city. Women did not randomly get collared or killed in the city. While the crowd was not bloodthirsty as all get

out, they did not start killing each other. Remember the Caste of Guardsmen was everywhere.

- If you are not present in the sands when the fight is organized, you will not participate in it. End of discussion

- Combat within the Arena will be organized as a spectatorial event. As such we will follow the Roman model.

- You must use a Location pulldown in order to have valid RP.

All entering the Arena must have names, no observing may take place in the Arena, any Annons will be booted
- Keep overt OOC to PMs only.If you speak OOC in the open, please use the OOC pulldown. Outwardly demeaning emotives or "thoughts" may be considered to have facial expressions that displease and used against you. Watch what you say and do not slander others in thought.
