Welcome to Stargate Command

Welcome to Stargate Command,a top-secret military organization founded and led by the United States Air Force in conjunction with the International Oversight Advisory, tasked with operating the Stargate device and all matters pertaining to things off-world, such as threats to Earth or missions to procure new technology from extraterrestrial civilizations. It is based inside the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado, code-named "Area 52".

Stargates, also called Astria Porta in Ancient and Chappa'ai in Goa'uld, as well as various other names across the universe, are a series of devices built by the Ancients which create wormholes, allowing for near-instantaneous transportation between two distant points in space. The Stargates are often considered to be the Ancients' greatest creation and thus, the Ancients are often referred to as the Gate Builders.

Through the SGC, several key advances in technology have already been made, and attacks against the Earth repelled. Today is the dawning of a new age of understanding about the universe and our place in it. The scope of Stargate Command is so much more than a vessel to use the Stargate, it and therefore you represent the best that humanity has to offer. We stand at the forefront of our persistent dream of travel beyond the boundary of our own solar system.

Shades of the Past

Since the beginning of the Stargate Program, Earth has come under fire from several various threats. The primary threat was the Goa'uld, a race of sentient parasitic beings that take over hosts. The Goa'uld developed the first of their society as conquerors, stealing Ancient technology and adapting it to their purposes. After three centuries of civil war, the Goa'uld Ra organized a new leadership called the High Council of the System Lords. Ra installed himself as the Supreme System Lord of the Goa'uld Empire. When Earth first used the Stargate, it led to the death of Ra, bringing our world to the attention of the remaining System Lords. After a protracted campaign, the last remaining Goa'uld System Lord was dead and the Empire had fallen.

Next came the Ori, an offshoot of the Ancients who had created the Stargates. Where the Ancients had chosen to focus on scientific advancement, the Ori founded the religion of Origin with themselves as the gods. The war with the Ori may have been shorter than the war with the Goa'uld, but the damage was far more substantial. Ultimately, it was with the assistance of an Ancient device, which revealed the truth about the Ori to everyone in the Milky Way Galaxy, ending the crusade the Ori had started. After the end of the crusade, the Ori army returned to their home galaxy where they presumably disbanded for good.

Following the collapse of the Goa'uld regime, much of their resources and technology fell into the hands of the humans whom they oppressed. Some of these humans, a coalition of former smugglers and mercenaries, banded together to form The Lucian Alliance, an organization comparable to the Mafia on a galactic scale. Their goal, to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the demise of the Goa'uld Empire. Though the prominent race that operates the Alliance is Human, it also has members from other races. In 2010, the Alliance destroyed two of our outposts and launched an attack on Earth by sending a Tel'tak armed with a Naquadria bomb to Earth, presumably with the intention to land on Homeworld Command and then have the bomb detonate. They have remained at large, a constant adversary to be watched since.

The End Is the Beginning Is the End

Whispers of a new threat, ancient beyond mortal comprehension are emerging from the shadows of galactic prehistory to reclaim their empire. Their legions of mindlessly loyal warriors slaughter their enemies without mercy. Arrogant and cruel, the immortal nobility view the galaxy's sentient races as little but parasites, impudent vermin to be swept aside by their triumphal return. Though scattered and time-worn from millennia of self-imposed hibernation to escape the Ancients, they rise from their slumber. In centuries long forgotten, every living thing knew to fear the wrath of these all-powerful beings. In this dark new era, they are learning to do so again.
